For three years I studied traditional Japanese Shodo, brush calligraphy in Tokyo, developing a practice in Sumi ink on paper combined with brushed elements of red cinnabar ink, pigment and gold leaf.
Currently working with digital renditions and compositions derived from my original sumi paintings, I am combining traditional Shodo practice, photography, digital techniques and a love of paper and metal in a natural progression from traditional mediums into contemporary fine art prints and unique pieces.
